Warrens, WI Cranberry Harvest & Doctor Evermor's Art Park
On Saturday, October 5th 2013 with a planned visit from Ruth (Haynes) & Jerry Powell, Wollman, IA & Allen Haynes, Auburn, IN, we headed up the highway to Warrens, Wisconsin - the Cranberry Capital of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is the largest producer of cranberries in the nation. The cranberry is Wisconsin's state fruit with the month of October proclaimed "National Cranberry Month". Cranberries are Wisconsin's largest fruit crop producing nearly 4 million barrels in 2010, contributing over 3,500 jobs and nearly $300 million annually to the state's economy. America has only three native fruits -the cranberry, the Concord grape and the blueberry. Take a look as we learn all we can about cranberry growing and harvesting at the Wetherby Cranberry Company and the Cranberry Discovery Center and then on the return trip enter the world of Dr. Evermor's Studio & Art Park. American Pickers paid the folks there a visit recently http://www.history.com/shows/american-pickers/videos/the-creations-of-dr-evermore Enjoy the world of cranberries & re-purposed art from Wisconsin - both are worth discovering as your explore the Badger State aka America's Dairyland.
