Rock County Adventure: Janesville, WI
On Friday, May 13th, 2016 we continued our Wisconsin County Adventure series with a one day trek to Rock County https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_County,_Wisconsin about one hour due south of Dane County. Our first stop in historical rich Janesville https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janesville,_Wisconsin was for breakfast at the lovely and colorful Citrus Cafe http://www.citruscafe208.com/ Then to a private tour of the Lincoln-Talman House the restored gem best known as "Where Abraham Lincoln Slept" and yes, the bed he slept in is still intact https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln-Tallman_House Next stop was the Rotary Botanical Gardens- an outdoor masterpiece built upon a former gravel pit by volunteers and community sponsors http://www.rotarybotanicalgardens.org/. A late afternoon lunch at the friendly and relaxed Milwaukee Grill http://milwaukeegrill.com/ followed by a close up look at some of Janesville's manufacturing treasurers including Pickard China https://www.pickardchina.com/info.cfm?action=about and then exploring by foot Downtown Janesville.
