Monroe, Wisconsin Day Adventure

Lovely Monroe, known as "the Swiss Cheese Capital of the USA", is a city in and the county seat of Green County, with a population of approximately 11,000. Our day trip included a visit to the National Historic Cheesemaking & Green County Welcome Center, a guided tour of the Roth Cheese making factory & the adjacent Alps & Dell Cheese Store, walking the perimeter of the Downtown Monroe Square with the Historic Green County Courthouse center stage. Monroe is home to the Minhas Brewery since 1845 - the oldest in the Midwest plus the Monroe Arts Center housed in the former First Methodist Episcopal Church built in 1843. Take a closer look at some of the hidden gems that can be discovered in one day while getting to know Wisconsin better.
