Dayton, Ohio Weekend 2016 Adventure with Friends
On Sunday, October 9th and Monday, October 10th, 2016 we joined Ralph & Marilyn Stutzman in a long planned adventure to Dayton, Ohio https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dayton,_Ohio- home of Wilbur and Orville Wright https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wright_brothers
Inspired by reading David McCullough's "The Wright Brothers" http://www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-Wright-Brothers/David-McCullough/9781476728759 we walked through history at the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park. Three exceptional men from Dayton, Ohio, Wilbur Wright, Orville Wright and Paul Laurence Dunbar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Laurence_Dunbar found their creative outlet here through accomplishments and failures, and finally success. Our "time-capsule" Dayton tour included visiting the Fountain of Presidents in downtown Dayton & Carillon Historical Park https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carillon_Historical_Park for a walk through Dayton's early settler history to the world of NCR (National Cash Register) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCR_Corporation.
From bicycles, a one room school house and early automobiles, to the Wright Brother's flights at Kitty Hawk and an ever changing Dayton -here's our travel captured in images.
