Madison Bach Musicians: Baroque Songs & Arias
The Madison Bach Musicians' 2012-13 season opened on Saturday, October 6th at 7:30 pm at the First Unitarian Society- Landmark Auditorium, 900 University Bay Drive, Madison, WI. A spectacular program of Baroque Songs and Arias featuring guest artist soprano Amy Haworth from the Tallis Scholars was performed including masterworks by Monteverdi,Caccini, Luzzaschi, Caldara, Cesti, Alessandro Scarlatti, Purcell, Bach & Handel. Viola da gambist Anna Steinhoff (from Chicago's Baroque Band) & Trevor Stephenson, harpsichordist and artistic director of the Madison Bach Musicians completed the accomplished and talented trio for the evening's memorable performance. Trevor integrated "talking points" throughout the evening to teach the audience from a historical perspective plus recognition of Norman Sheppard, classical keyboard builder & restorer. The Frank Lloyd Wright designed Landmark Auditorium also proved to be a visual as well as an acoustical gem for the Baroque Songs & Arias performance of the Madison Bach Musicians.
