Grandview Four Square: A Time to Tear Down & A Time to Build Up - 2017
It's a New Year at the Four Square on Grandview- time to tear down the 1904 aluminum siding house and complete the move in to the Four Square. Opening sequence is on Sunday morning, Feb 13th, 2017 as the upstairs bathroom receives fine touches of tile on the wall. The Gingrich/Stoltzfus family made the initial move into the Four Square during Christmas 2016 and now the last push is on to say good bye to the circa 1904 former abode and complete the major site plan. The following day - Monday morning, the Habitat DeCON team showed up enforce and devoured the aluminum siding and the pine floors from upstairs of the 1901 abode. Meanwhile, Dan frames and installs the front door in the Four Square. It's a time to tear down and a time to build up. On Saturday morning, February 25th, Glen Miller and his Amish team began the DeCON of the 1904 dwelling. Mark Bowman ran the wheel barrow to the burn pile while others assisted in moving the last of the contents from the 1904 to the Four Square. Here are scenes from late morning as it was a Time to Tear Down and a Time to Build Up - all showcased in a fresh snow powder with temperatures in the teens - two months after Christmas. On Monday, February 27th the snow from Saturday has melted and the sun is shining. The DeCON site is explored with the entire second floor of the 1904 removed along with the roof. Interior shots of the Four Square include sunlite downstairs Dining, Kitchen and Entryway plus the Occupancy Permit. Outside Ivy gets excited about playing ball - must be an early Spring. A week after the Habitat Restore DeCON team removed wood flooring and siding a team of Amish led by Glen Miller arrived to begin the final "tear down" of the 1904 Abode.
