Panda Brothers Spring Break in Wisconsin 2014

On Monday, March 10th, 2014, Glenn, Bryan and Leo Sweitzer arrived from Muncie, Indiana after a 9 hour plus journey in a rented Mazda.( The trusty Hondo was in the shop with a radiator repair). On Tuesday, with Glenn under the weather, four Sweitzers headed to the Cave of the Mounds National Natural Landmark at Blue Mounds, Wisconsin and spent some time exploring the 400 million years old underground. A hearty lunch was enjoyed at the Grumpy Troll in nearby Mt. Horeb. In the afternoon, some of us got exercise at the Harbor Athletic Club ( a few blocks from our front door). Wednesday we visited downtown Madison with a visit to the Veteran's Museum, Ian's Pizza, and the new Madison Public Library. Thursday, the 13th, included a visit to the Olbrich Botanical Gardens for "Dinosaurs & Daffodils Spring Flower Show, followed by bowling at the Middleton Bowl in the afternoon. Friday morning we frequented the nearby Original Pancake House for Buckwheat and Georgia Pecan Pancakes, hiked to the Middleton Library, and worked out at Harbor Club again. And the first Pegity Round Robin Tournament started Friday morning and concluded in the evening with a second round. Pegity was a favorite of Sarah's Grandfather Harry Neff, Mountville, Pa. - a "game of skill, not chance." Saturday morning, after homemade blueberry pancakes, eggs and bacon (for the meat lovers), it was time for some cousin and family photos and the Hoosier "send-off". Until the next time, enjoy the seasons as they come and go and marvel at the energy and enthusiasm of youth.

  • Spectacular crystallized rock formation and shimmering pools make for wonderful viewing and photography. To save energy, all of the supplemental underground lights are being converted to LEDs.
