Mother's Day Weekend in Wisconsin 2013

The second Sunday in May (the 12th) is for many in the world Mother's Day. This is an appropriate time on the journey to give thanks and appreciation for all that Mother's do and have done, including those special Mothers that are no longer living. For some Moms this was their first Mother's Day living in Wisconsin. Share some time with us as we celebrate Mother's Day with a surprise visit from Bay Area based Laura Ann plus Ruth Grace's very first Mother's Day on the planet. Ruth hosted her first ever Mother's Day tea, a Little Free Library lending house was painted bright "Ruth's Best" purple (not kidding on the shade of purple), the Verona based "Rail to Trails" Military Ridge trail was hiked, and memories were made for the next generations. Thanks to Moms everywhere for all they do.

Happy Mother's Day Giant Cookie.

  • Happy Mother's Day Giant Cookie.
  • Fine china tea cup from Kent's Mother, Marie Grace Eikenberry-Sweitzer was used as part of the Ruth Grace Mother's Day tea.
  • The table was set at Mike & Erica's new home on Amherst with tea service on the table behind. The drop leaf table was one formerly used by Anna Ruth Neff Haynes, Sarah's mother.
  • Ready for tea.
  • Laura Ann Sweitzer holds up two different tea cups - one from each of her deceased Grandmother's tea services ( Marie Grace Eikenberry Sweitzer & Anna Ruth Neff Haynes). Laura's visit was a total surprise for her Mom Sarah.
  • Laura brought fresh tulips for the table.
  • Ruth's Bucky Badger UW shoes are on the window sill.
  • Erica enjoyed the day as a relatively new Mom in Wisconsin - Ruth is now almost 10 months old.
  • Sarah holds up the Ruth Grace stamps which Mike made on line.
  • And Mike's Mom Pam does the same plus a recent picture of herself with Ruth.
  • Mike sips tea while holding the beater dripping with real whipped cream.
  • Pam's Mother's Day desert was amazing - glazed pears with blueberries and whipped cream plus a touch of raw sugar. There's many reasons why Mom's are essential for living a good life on this planet.
  • Laura, still on Bay Area time kicked back a little.
  • Mike's Mother's Day project is to make progress on the Little Free Library House - a Wisconsin based initiative which places honor based free loaning libraries on the front lawn of neighborhood homes for use by anyone.
  • Mike's on the level on this project.
  • Taping and preparation are key.

  • And he has solicited expert help from the Mother's Day painters - and they are good. Two coats of "Ruth's best" purple paint are going on today.
  • Untitled photo
  • Ruth wants to get her hands into some of the pretty purple paint.
