Fiskars Volunteer Frame Up for Habitat 05.18.2018
More than 120 associates from Fiskars rolled up their sleeves to frame a Habitat for Humanity house on the morning of Friday, May 18. Starting at 8 a.m., the parking lot at Fiskars, 7800 Discovery Drive, in Middleton, was transformed into a Habitat for Humanity of Dane County construction site.
Fiskars volunteers built all of the interior and exterior walls for the three-bedroom house, which will be eventually be located at 4607 Unity Lane in Fitchburg’s Renaissance on the Park neighborhood. The future homeowners, Yeng and Lee, were onsite working alongside the Fiskars volunteers building their home. Yeng and Lee have four daughters, four-year-old Natila, two-year-old Ahliya, one-year-old Lexianna, and four-month-old Abby.
“The work that Habitat for Humanity does for our community is truly incredible,” said Fiskars Global Functional President Paul Tonnesen. “I’m proud to be part of a company that is willing to go the extra mile to ensure Lee and Yeng’s family has a comfortable place to call home. We’re excited to stand by their side during this build!”
Before noon the volunteers stood all of the home’s completed walls, just as they will be once they’re moved to their permanent location.
“We are so thrilled to partner with Fiskars on this build,” said Valerie Johnson Renk, Habitat for Humanity of Dane County CEO. “Building a home frame is no easy task, and we’re grateful for their support in creating safe, decent and affordable housing for Dane County families.”
Since 1987 Habitat for Humanity of Dane County has been building in partnership with low to moderate income families in 18 different communities throughout Dane County. Currently Habitat is building in Madison, Sun Prairie and Fitchburg.
